Doc Hudson, the former Hudson Hornet driver, is voiced by Paul Newman in Pixar’s Cars.
Doc is the town doctor and judge of Radiator Springs, but he once raced as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. His racing career ended after a crash and an unsympathetic response from the racing world.
In Cars, Doc initially dislikes Lightning McQueen’s disruptive behavior. He eventually becomes Lightning’s crew chief and teaches him that racing skill involves more than speed.
Paul Newman recorded Doc’s dialogue for the first Cars film. Doc does not appear as a living character in Cars 2 or Cars 3, although his memory and legacy remain important to Lightning and Radiator Springs.
