In PAL regions, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! was released under what subtitle?

The story behind the answer

In PAL regions, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! was released under the subtitle Gateway to Glimmer.

The game was developed by Insomniac Games for the original PlayStation and launched in 1999 as the sequel to Spyro the Dragon. In North America, it retained the subtitle Ripto's Rage!, referring to the game's villain, the sorcerer Ripto. European and other PAL-region releases instead used Gateway to Glimmer, a title connected to Glimmer, the first realm Spyro visits in Avalar.

The regional title difference is easy to miss because later compilations did not always preserve it. Spyro Reignited Trilogy generally uses the North American name, Ripto's Rage!, even when sold internationally. Gateway to Glimmer is therefore not a separate game, expansion, or alternate sequel; it is the original PAL-region title for the same second Spyro adventure.

The story introduces recurring characters including Elora the Faun, Hunter the Cheetah, and the Professor, while expanding Spyro's abilities with swimming, climbing, head-bashing, and hovering after a glide.
