Ethan Hunt is trying to prove that the Syndicate exists in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
The Syndicate is described as a covert network of highly trained former agents from different countries. Because its operations are deniable and its members are difficult to identify, government officials initially doubt Ethan’s claims.
The organization is central to the film’s title and conflict. Ethan works with Benji Dunn and Ilsa Faust while trying to uncover its leadership and prevent further attacks. Solomon Lane, played by Sean Harris, is revealed as the Syndicate’s leader.
The group’s later remnants become associated with the Apostles in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. The Entity, by contrast, is the artificial intelligence threat introduced in Dead Reckoning Part One.
