The secret organization Ethan investigates in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is the Syndicate.
The Syndicate is a covert network of highly trained operatives described as a dark counterpart to the IMF. Ethan Hunt becomes convinced that the organization exists after observing evidence of coordinated attacks, even while official authorities question his claims.
Solomon Lane leads the Syndicate, and Ilsa Faust is connected to the organization before becoming an uneasy ally of Ethan. The Syndicate’s remnants later become the Apostles in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, so the names refer to related but distinct groups. Rogue Nation was released in 2015 and was the first series film directed by Christopher McQuarrie.
