San Francisco is the city threatened by a nuclear missile launch in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
The film’s final act takes place in and around San Francisco, where Ethan Hunt’s team races to stop the launch of a Russian nuclear missile. The missile is connected to the extremist known as Cobalt, whose plan is designed to provoke a nuclear war between the United States and Russia.
The climax unfolds at a parking structure and nearby locations as the team attempts to regain control of the missile system. Ghost Protocol also includes major sequences in Budapest, Moscow, Dubai, and Mumbai. The San Francisco setting is distinct from the film’s famous Burj Khalifa sequence, which takes place in Dubai.
