In Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Ethan Hunt’s team infiltrates the Kremlin in Moscow.
The operation is intended to retrieve information about a nuclear extremist known as Cobalt. Ethan and Benji enter the heavily guarded complex using sophisticated disguises and projection technology, while Jane Carter and other team members support the mission remotely.
The plan collapses when a bomb destroys part of the Kremlin. Ethan is framed for the attack, and the United States activates Ghost Protocol, disavowing the IMF. This leaves Ethan and his small team without official support or resources as they race to prevent a nuclear conflict.
The Kremlin is the fortified complex in Moscow that includes the official residence and administrative buildings of Russia’s president. The film’s Kremlin sequence is fictionalized for entertainment and should not be confused with the IMF headquarters, which the story places in Washington, D.C.
