In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, what is the name of the Green Ranger? The Green Ranger is Tommy Oliver. He is introduced as a skilled new student at Angel Grove High School before becoming one of the franchise’s most important heroes.

Rita Repulsa initially turns Tommy against the Rangers in the five-part story “Green with Evil.” She gives him the Dragon Power Coin and places him under a spell, making him the evil Green Ranger. His Dragon Dagger can summon the Dragonzord, and his distinctive costume includes a gold chest shield and matching arm bands.

The Rangers eventually break Rita’s control, and Tommy joins the team. His Green Ranger powers are unstable and later disappear, but he returns as the White Ranger after Zordon selects him to replace those lost abilities. Tommy subsequently becomes the Red Zeo Ranger, Red Turbo Ranger, and Black Dino Ranger in later Power Rangers series.

Jason David Frank played Tommy in the original series and many later appearances. Because Tommy changes colors and teams repeatedly, quizzes sometimes identify him only as the White Ranger; in Mighty Morphin’s early storyline, however, his defining first identity is the Green Ranger.
