In Lightyear, what is the name of the planet Buzz crash-lands on?

The story behind the answer

In Lightyear, Buzz crash-lands on the planet T’Kani Prime.

Buzz Lightyear and the crew of a Star Command exploration vessel investigate T’Kani Prime after detecting signs of life. When hostile creatures force the ship to retreat, Buzz damages the vessel while piloting it, leaving the crew stranded on the planet. The damaged hyperspace fuel crystal prevents them from simply returning home.

Buzz volunteers to test experimental fuel because each flight could bring the colony closer to escaping T’Kani Prime. The planet’s time-dilation effects create the film’s central tragedy: a short test flight for Buzz corresponds to years passing for the people living on the surface. While Buzz remains physically young, the colony changes across generations.

T’Kani Prime is therefore more than a crash site. It becomes the colony’s home and the setting for Buzz’s eventual confrontation with Zurg. A common mix-up is answering “Earth,” but Lightyear’s opening mission takes place on an uncharted alien world. Zurg’s planet is also incorrect: Zurg comes to T’Kani Prime rather than being the name of the planet itself.
