In James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah Connor’s son is named John.
John Connor is the central human figure in the Terminator series because the future resistance leader is said to defeat Skynet. In the 1991 sequel, he is a teenager living in Los Angeles while his mother is confined in a psychiatric hospital.
The film’s story turns on two opposing machines traveling from the future: a reprogrammed T-800 protects John, while the liquid-metal T-1000 hunts him. John’s identity is therefore important to both the time-travel plot and the future war.
A common mix-up is confusing John Connor with Kyle Reese, his father in the first film, or with the T-800’s model designation. Edward Furlong played John in Terminator 2, while Linda Hamilton returned as Sarah.
