In James Cameron’s Avatar, Mo’at is the Na’vi spiritual leader who is Neytiri’s mother.
Mo’at is the tsahìk, or spiritual leader, of the Omaticaya clan. CCH Pounder portrays her in the film. She is responsible for religious guidance, healing traditions, and important ceremonies, including the process through which Jake Sully begins learning about Omaticaya life.
Mo’at is also the mate of Eytukan, the clan’s leader and Neytiri’s father. Her position gives her substantial authority in the community, and she initially questions Jake’s understanding of Na’vi customs. Her eventual acceptance is connected to Jake’s growing commitment to Pandora and the Omaticaya people.
Tsahìk is the title of Mo’at’s role, not her personal name. Neytiri is her daughter, while Eytukan is her mate. These terms are easy to confuse because Avatar presents family relationships and social titles within the same fictional cultural setting.
