In James Cameron’s Avatar, what is the name of the Na’vi clan living near Hometree?

The story behind the answer

The Na’vi clan living near Hometree in James Cameron’s Avatar is the Omaticaya.

The Omaticaya inhabit the rainforest of Pandora and make their home in a massive biological structure known as Hometree. Neytiri belongs to the clan, and Jake Sully is gradually accepted into its community after learning the Na’vi language, customs, and relationship with the environment.

The clan’s territory becomes a major target of the RDA because valuable unobtanium lies beneath it. The destruction of Hometree is therefore both an environmental catastrophe and a direct attack on Omaticaya identity and community. The film’s later resistance brings together Na’vi groups from across Pandora.

The Omaticaya are often confused with the Metkayina, the reef-dwelling clan introduced in Avatar: The Way of Water. The Olangi are another Na’vi clan associated with the first Avatar, but they are not the people of Hometree.
