In James Cameron’s Aliens, the company executive who secretly plans to bring a specimen home is Carter Burke.
Burke is the Weyland-Yutani representative who joins the mission to investigate the lost colony on LV-426. He presents himself as a corporate adviser, but his real objective is to recover an alien organism for study and possible commercial exploitation.
His plan becomes clear when Ellen Ripley discovers that the colonists were sent to investigate the derelict spacecraft’s coordinates. Burke later attempts to infect Ripley and Newt with facehugger embryos, intending to quarantine them for transport rather than protect them.
A common mix-up is confusing Burke with the company itself. Weyland-Yutani is the corporation, while Carter Burke is its individual representative. The character was played by Paul Reiser, whose calm, managerial manner contrasts with the Marines’ military approach.
