In How the Grinch Stole Christmas, what is the name of the Grinch's town?

The story behind the answer

In How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Grinch's town is called Whoville.

Whoville is the home of the Whos, the cheerful community whose Christmas celebration the Grinch tries to stop. The town appears in Dr. Seuss's 1957 picture book How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and in multiple screen adaptations.

The 2000 live-action film stars Jim Carrey as the Grinch and Taylor Momsen as Cindy Lou Who. It expands the short book into a feature-length story by giving the Grinch a larger backstory and adding details about Whoville's society.

Whoville is sometimes confused with Christmas Town, the setting of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Those are separate fictional places: Christmas Town belongs to Jack Skellington's world, while Whoville belongs to the Grinch's story.
