In Greek mythology, on which island did Perseus return after killing Medusa?

The story behind the answer

In Greek mythology, Perseus returned to the island of Seriphos after killing Medusa.

Seriphos is the Aegean island where Perseus and his mother Danaë had lived after being placed in a chest and cast into the sea. The chest reached the island, where they were rescued and taken into the care of the local royal household. Later, King Polydectes sent Perseus on the seemingly impossible mission to bring back Medusa’s head.

After completing the quest, Perseus returned to Seriphos and used Medusa’s head against Polydectes and his supporters. The island is therefore central to the beginning and end of this part of the myth. Seriphos is sometimes replaced in modern retellings by a generic “Greek island,” but the classical story specifically names the Cycladic island.
