In Genesis's account of Noah's Ark, Noah planted a vineyard after the Flood.
Genesis 9:20 says that Noah began to be a man of the soil and planted a vineyard. The next verses describe him drinking wine, becoming drunk, and lying uncovered inside his tent. This episode follows the covenant and the blessing given to Noah and his sons.
The story is sometimes remembered only for Noah's drunkenness, but the vineyard is the concrete agricultural detail that begins the episode. Genesis does not say that Noah planted an olive grove, wheat field, or fig orchard in this passage.
The account also introduces a family incident involving Ham and Noah's other sons, Shem and Japheth. Later interpretations differ over the moral and familial implications of the scene, but the crop itself is stated plainly: Noah planted a vineyard.
