In Genesis, Noah cursed Canaan after the incident involving Noah’s uncovered body.
Genesis 9:20–27 says Noah became drunk after planting a vineyard and was seen uncovered in his tent. Ham is identified as the father of Canaan, while Shem and Japheth respond by covering Noah without looking at him. When Noah awakens, he pronounces a curse on Canaan and blessings involving Shem and Japheth.
A common mistake is to answer Ham because Ham is the son named in the immediate narrative. The text, however, specifically states the curse against Canaan. The passage does not describe Noah cursing Ham by name.
This episode is part of the post-Flood family narrative and is distinct from the Ark’s construction or the covenant’s rainbow sign. Later readers have debated its interpretation, but the named recipient in Genesis is clear.
