In Genesis, what was the first thing Noah saw when he sent the dove out again?

The story behind the answer

In Genesis, Noah received an olive leaf when he sent the dove out again.

Genesis 8:10–11 says Noah waited seven more days before sending the dove out a second time. The dove returned toward evening with a freshly plucked olive leaf, showing that the floodwaters had receded from the ground. Noah then waited another seven days and sent the dove out once more; it did not return.

The olive leaf is often remembered as a general symbol of peace, but in the Ark narrative its immediate function is practical: it provides evidence that vegetation had reappeared above the waters.

This episode comes after Noah first sent out a raven. The raven and the dove serve different parts of the reconnaissance sequence, and the olive leaf belongs specifically to the dove’s second reported flight.
