Answer
Removed the Ark’s covering
In Genesis, Noah removed Noah’s Ark’s covering after the dove stopped returning. Genesis 8:13 says that in the 601st year, on the first day of the first month, Noah removed the covering and saw that the surface of the ground was dry.
This action follows the sequence of bird tests. Noah first sent a raven, then sent a dove that returned without finding a resting place. A later flight brought an olive leaf, and a third flight ended with the dove not returning. After that, Noah opened the Ark’s covering and inspected the ground.
The verse does not say that Noah immediately left the Ark after seeing dry ground. Genesis gives a later date, the 27th day of the second month, when God told Noah to come out with his family and the animals. This creates a distinction between seeing dry land and receiving the command to disembark.
Popular illustrations often compress these events, but the biblical chronology separates them by weeks and by divine instruction.
