In Genesis, what was Noah’s age when the Flood waters came upon the earth?
Answer
600 years old
Answer
600 years old
In Genesis, Noah was 600 years old when the Flood waters came upon the earth.
Genesis 7:6 gives Noah’s age as six hundred years when the Flood occurred. This detail belongs to the chronology surrounding his entry into the Ark and the beginning of the deluge. Genesis 7:11 further dates the start of the Flood to Noah’s six-hundredth year, in the second month and on the seventeenth day of the month.
The number is not Noah’s total lifespan. Genesis 9:28 says Noah lived 350 years after the Flood, and Genesis 9:29 gives his total age at death as 950 years. Those separate figures are a common source of confusion.
The biblical narrative uses ages and dated intervals to organize its primeval history. It does not provide a modern calendar equivalent for the month or day mentioned in the Flood account.
