In Genesis, Noah released the dove again after it returned with an olive leaf.
Genesis 8:10–12 describes Noah waiting seven days and then sending the dove out once more. On its previous flight, the dove had returned with a freshly plucked olive leaf, showing that vegetation was appearing as the waters receded. On the final flight, the dove did not return, suggesting that it had found a place to rest outside the ark.
The sequence contains three recorded bird actions: the raven's earlier release, the dove's first flight and return with an olive leaf, and the dove's later flight without returning. Because the olive leaf has become a widespread symbol of peace, the middle episode is especially familiar, but the final release is a separate event in the chronology.
