In Genesis, eight people are said to be saved inside Noah’s Ark.
The eight are Noah, his wife, his three sons, and the three wives of those sons. Genesis 7 lists Noah’s household entering the Ark, while later biblical passages also refer to eight people being preserved through the Flood. The count therefore includes four men and four women.
This number is sometimes confused with the number of Noah’s sons, which is three, or with the number of people named in the household list. The biblical account does not name Noah’s wife or his daughters-in-law. It also does not say that additional human survivors were aboard; the narrative presents Noah’s family as the human group preserved through the Flood.
