In Genesis, Noah waited seven days before sending the dove after the raven.
Genesis 8:6–8 describes Noah opening the Ark’s window and sending out a raven, followed by a dove. Later, Genesis 8:10 says Noah waited another seven days before sending the dove again, and Genesis 8:12 records another seven-day interval before its final release.
The seven-day interval is easy to miss because the passage focuses on the birds’ changing results. The first dove found no place to rest and returned; the next returned with an olive leaf; the final dove did not return. These stages show Noah repeatedly testing whether the land had dried.
Some translations make the timing especially explicit with “seven more days.” The narrative’s sequence is therefore not simply a single release of a raven and one release of a dove, but a set of carefully spaced observations.
