In Genesis, Noah waited seven days before sending the dove from the Ark again.
After the floodwaters began to recede, Noah first sent out a raven. He then sent a dove, which returned because it found no resting place. Genesis 8:10 says Noah waited another seven days before sending the dove a second time. That second flight produced the famous olive leaf.
The sequence is often compressed in retellings, making it seem as though the dove immediately returned with the olive leaf. The biblical account includes distinct attempts and explicitly gives a seven-day interval between the first and second dove flights.
Genesis later says Noah waited another seven days before sending the dove once more. On that final flight, the dove did not return. The olive leaf therefore belongs to the second dove expedition, not the first bird sent from the Ark.
