In darts, the maximum score possible with one dart is 60. A player achieves it by hitting the treble ring of the 20 segment, because treble 20 multiplies the segment value by three.
The standard board has numbered segments from 1 to 20. A single dart can score a single, double, or treble value, while the bull areas score 25 or 50. Treble 20 is therefore higher than the inner bull and every other numbered target.
Three darts can produce a maximum visit of 180, made by hitting treble 20 three times. That famous score is sometimes called a maximum, but 180 is a three-dart score, not the limit for one dart. Confusing those two limits is a common beginner’s mistake.
