Ariadne is the architect who joins Cobb’s team in Christopher Nolan’s Inception.
Played by Ellen Page, Ariadne is recruited by Cobb and Miles after demonstrating exceptional skill in designing dream environments. Her job is to create the spaces used during the team’s extraction and inception operations, while ensuring that the dream architecture does not collapse under scrutiny.
Ariadne also serves as the audience’s guide to the film’s rules. She learns how dream levels, time dilation, projections, and “kicks” work, and she becomes increasingly aware of the emotional danger created by Cobb’s memories of Mal.
The character’s name comes from Greek mythology, where Ariadne helps Theseus navigate the Labyrinth. In the film, the connection reflects her role as the person who helps navigate psychologically complex dream spaces.
