In Brave, Queen Elinor’s husband and the king of DunBroch is Fergus.
King Fergus is Merida’s father and the ruler of the Scottish clan kingdom of DunBroch. He is voiced by Scottish comedian and actor Billy Connolly, whose booming delivery suits Fergus’s larger-than-life personality. Fergus is a powerful warrior, enthusiastic hunter, and devoted family man, though he often approaches danger and conflict with more confidence than caution.
Before the main events of the film, Fergus loses his left leg while fighting Mor’du, the demonic bear linked to an old royal legend. He survives and continues hunting Mor’du, making the bear both a personal enemy and a symbol of the destructive pride that threatens Merida’s family.
The other names are clan lords or characters associated with the Highland games. Dingwall, MacGuffin, and Macintosh are not members of the royal couple. Fergus and Elinor’s daughter is Princess Merida, Pixar’s first female protagonist.
