In Assassin's Creed Revelations, which city is controlled by the Byzantine Templars?
Answer
Constantinople
Answer
Constantinople
Constantinople is controlled by the Byzantine Templars in Assassin's Creed Revelations.
The main story of Revelations takes place in Constantinople during the early 16th century. Ezio arrives there to search for keys connected with Altaïr's library at Masyaf, while becoming involved in the conflict between the Assassins and the Byzantine Templars. The city is divided into districts, and Ezio gradually undermines Templar power across them.
Constantinople was the capital of the Byzantine Empire, but by the time of the game it had been conquered by the Ottoman Empire and was ruled by Sultan Bayezid II. The game's political setting therefore includes a struggle between Ottoman interests and Byzantine loyalists, rather than presenting the city as an unchanged Byzantine capital.
The city is also known as Istanbul in later historical usage. In 1511, the period depicted by Revelations, “Constantinople” is the title used for the game's setting. Damascus, Paris, and Boston belong to other Assassin's Creed settings and are not the principal city in this entry.
