Venice is the Italian city where Assassin's Creed II places Ezio's missions among canals and bridges.
Ezio reaches Venice after the early Florentine chapters, and the city provides a dramatically different environment. Its waterways, narrow streets, rooftops, markets, and palaces support the game's climbing, hiding, and pursuit mechanics.
The Venice sequence includes historical figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, who helps Ezio with equipment and inventions. The city also contains landmarks and districts inspired by Renaissance Venice, giving players a recognizable setting while allowing fictional events to unfold around real history.
Players sometimes name Florence because it is Ezio's birthplace and a major early location. Venice, however, is distinguished by its lagoon setting and canal-based travel. Naples and Turin are not the principal city setting for Ezio's missions in Assassin's Creed II.
