Haytham Kenway is the Assassin's Creed protagonist who is also Connor Kenway's father.
Haytham is the central character of the opening sequence of Assassin's Creed III, where he appears to be an Assassin before the story reveals his allegiance to the Templar Order. He is the son of Edward Kenway, the pirate protagonist of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
Haytham's divided family history links several games across different centuries. His son, Ratonhnhaké:ton—commonly called Connor—is the main playable protagonist of Assassin's Creed III. Haytham and Connor eventually become opponents because they serve rival organizations, although their relationship is more complicated than a simple personal feud.
The name “Connor Kenway” can cause confusion because Connor's Mohawk name is Ratonhnhaké:ton. Both names refer to the same character. Haytham's role is also unusual in the series because the game briefly places him in the player's control before shifting its main focus to Connor.
