In Assassin's Creed Revelations, which city does Ezio Auditore explore during the main campaign?

The story behind the answer

Constantinople is the principal city Ezio Auditore explores in Assassin's Creed Revelations.

Revelations is set mainly in Constantinople in 1511, during the final stage of Ezio's life as an Assassin. Ezio travels there to find keys connected to Altaïr's former headquarters in Masyaf. The city is divided into districts associated with the Ottoman capital, and the campaign brings Ezio into contact with figures including Suleiman, the future sultan, and Yusuf Tazim, leader of the local Assassins.

The game uses Constantinople's historical setting to connect Ezio's Renaissance story with Altaïr's Crusade-era legacy. Players also return to Masyaf and experience sequences featuring an older Altaïr. Constantinople was the city's widely used historical name in the period depicted; it was officially renamed Istanbul by the Turkish Republic in 1930. That modern name is therefore a common but historically inaccurate answer for the game's 1511 setting. Revelations was released in 2011.
