How old was Noah when he died, according to Genesis after the Ark story?

The story behind the answer

According to Genesis, Noah died at the age of 950.

Genesis 9:28 says that Noah lived 350 years after the Flood, and Genesis 9:29 concludes that his total lifespan was 950 years. The figure comes after the Ark narrative, Noah’s covenant, and the account of his sons.

This number is distinct from Noah’s age at other points in the story. He was 600 when the Flood began, and Genesis 8 places the drying of the ground in his 601st year. The 950-year figure is his total lifespan, not the length of the Flood or the duration of his voyage.

Noah’s lifespan also fits the unusually long ages attributed to several early biblical figures. Genesis presents these ages as part of its primeval history, while later biblical genealogies generally record much shorter lifespans. The text itself supplies the number but does not explain it scientifically.
