Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” spent eight weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song reached the top of the chart in 2003 after becoming the lead single from her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. Its combination of a forceful horn hook, Beyoncé’s vocal performance, and Jay-Z’s rap helped make it one of the defining singles of the early 2000s.
The eight-week run was especially significant because it established Beyoncé as a successful solo chart leader after years of prominence with Destiny’s Child. The single also topped charts in several other countries and earned major awards, including Grammy recognition.
Later Beyoncé singles had different chart histories. “Irreplaceable” spent ten weeks at number one, while “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” reached the summit for seven weeks. Those figures are sometimes mistakenly attributed to “Crazy in Love.”
