Metallica's original The Black Album contains 12 tracks.
The sequence begins with “Enter Sandman” and ends with “The Struggle Within.” Between them are songs including “Sad but True,” “The Unforgiven,” “Wherever I May Roam,” and “Nothing Else Matters.”
The record's standard track list is sometimes confused with later anniversary editions. The 2021 deluxe reissue expanded the project substantially with demos, live recordings, alternate mixes, and The Metallica Blacklist covers album. Those bonus materials do not change the 12-track count of the original studio album.
Vinyl editions divide the songs across four sides, with three tracks on each side. The compact-disc and digital versions present the same 12-song studio sequence as one continuous album.
