Beyoncé’s three-act project announced with Renaissance includes three studio albums.
Renaissance, released in 2022, is identified as Act I of the project. Its title and presentation introduced a planned trilogy of albums, making the number of installments an explicit part of the project’s concept.
Act II arrived as Cowboy Carter in 2024. Beyoncé described it as a genre-spanning work rooted in American music traditions, and the album reached number one on the Billboard 200. The final act had not been released as of the date of this question.
The project is sometimes described as a trilogy rather than simply a sequence of unrelated albums. Renaissance itself is a dance-oriented record influenced by house, disco, funk, and Black club-music history. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s first solo number-one Billboard Hot 100 hit since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”
