Five singles were released from Metallica’s 1991 album, The Black Album.
The singles were “Enter Sandman,” “The Unforgiven,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “Wherever I May Roam,” and “Sad but True.” Together, they gave the album an unusually strong run of recognizable songs across radio, video channels, and live performances.
“Enter Sandman” served as the lead single and arrived before the album. “The Unforgiven” and “Nothing Else Matters” followed, while “Wherever I May Roam” and “Sad but True” extended the album’s commercial life.
Some lists mention “Don’t Tread on Me” because it received promotional attention, but it is not included among the five official singles generally listed for the album. That distinction explains why different informal counts sometimes appear.
