As of 2025, nine Rocky films, including the Creed series, have been released. The count includes six films centered primarily on Rocky Balboa—Rocky (1976), Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky V, and Rocky Balboa—followed by Creed (2015), Creed II (2018), and Creed III (2023).
The Creed films continue the same fictional boxing universe through Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis “Donnie” Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan. Rocky appears as Adonis’s trainer and mentor in the first two Creed films, linking the spin-off series directly to the original movies.
A common mistake is to count only the six Rocky-titled films, or to treat Creed as a separate franchise with no connection to Rocky. Creed III is the ninth overall film and the first in the franchise not to feature Sylvester Stallone reprising Rocky, although Stallone remained involved as a producer. No additional Rocky or Creed feature had been released by 2025.
