The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team had five rangers: Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Trini, and Billy. They were the first teenagers chosen by Zordon to defend Angel Grove.
Each ranger received a distinct color, dinosaur-themed Power Coin, weapon, and Zord. Jason was the Red Ranger, Zack the Black Ranger, Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Trini the Yellow Ranger, and Billy the Blue Ranger. Together, their Dinozords formed the original Megazord.
A common source of confusion is Tommy Oliver. He first appeared as the Green Ranger and later joined the heroes, making the active team six rangers for part of the series. However, Tommy was not one of the five-member team introduced in the premiere, “Day of the Dumpster.”
The show’s opening lineup also differs from some later team changes. Rocky, Adam, and Aisha eventually replaced Jason, Zack, and Trini, while Kat later replaced Kimberly. “Original team” conventionally means the five introduced at the beginning, not every ranger who later served during the Mighty Morphin era.
