Two promoted teams won on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Hull City defeated Manchester United 2–0, and Ipswich Town beat Sunderland 2–1. Both winners had just arrived in the Premier League, making the opening round a strong start for newly promoted clubs. Coventry City, the third promoted team, lost 3–0 to Arsenal.
The three promoted clubs were Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City. Their results therefore produced two wins and one defeat. The Premier League described this as only the fourth time in its history that two promoted sides had won on the opening weekend.
This statistic counts promoted clubs that won, not the total number of promoted clubs or the number of matches involving them. It also does not mean two promoted clubs played each other: all three faced established Premier League opposition in the first round.
