One Premier League match was drawn during the 2026–27 season’s opening weekend.
The draw was Newcastle United’s 2–2 home result against Liverpool on Sunday 23 August 2026. Each club received one point, while the other nine teams that played in Matchweek 1 recorded victories.
The opening round contained ten matches because the Premier League has 20 clubs, with every team playing once. A single draw therefore meant that 18 clubs were involved in wins or defeats and only two clubs shared points.
Several matches were close without being draws. Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 2–1, Ipswich Town beat Sunderland 2–1, and Chelsea won 3–2 away to Fulham. The three clean-sheet wins by 2–0 were recorded by Hull City, Everton and Leeds United.
