Ten Premier League matches were scheduled in the 2026–27 opening Match Round.
The division contained 20 clubs, so a complete round required every team to play once. The schedule spread those 10 fixtures across Friday 21 August, Saturday 22 August, Sunday 23 August and Monday 24 August 2026.
Arsenal versus Coventry City opened the round, while Fulham versus Chelsea closed it. Saturday contained five matches, Sunday contained three, and Friday and Monday each contained one.
The word “weekend” can be slightly misleading here because the round extended into Monday. Premier League fixture lists commonly call the first group of matches an opening weekend even when television scheduling places the final game on a weekday.
