Three promoted clubs played on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The promoted teams were Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City. All three appeared in the first round: Coventry visited Arsenal, Ipswich hosted Sunderland, and Hull hosted Manchester United.
Their routes back to the top flight differed. Coventry returned after 25 years away, Ipswich after one year, and Hull after nine years. That made the opening weekend a useful snapshot of three clubs arriving from different recent histories.
Their results were mixed. Coventry lost 3–0, while Ipswich won 2–1 and Hull won 2–0. Together, the promoted clubs collected six points from a possible nine, with two victories and one defeat.
