How many players are in a cricket team?
Answer
11
Answer
11
A cricket team has 11 players. Under the Laws of Cricket, each side consists of eleven players, including its captain, and up to eleven members of the fielding team may be on the field at once.
During an innings, the fielding side uses all eleven players, while the batting side normally has two batters on the pitch: the striker facing the bowler and the non-striker at the opposite wicket. The other nine batting-team players wait in the pavilion or team area until they bat or take another role.
A match can involve more people than 11 per team because substitutes, coaches, medical staff and officials may also be present. Substitutes generally cannot bat, bowl or captain under the standard laws, although modern playing conditions allow limited replacements in some competitions. Eleven is therefore the canonical answer for the number of players in one cricket team, not the total number of people involved in a match.
