Brighton had scored their fourth goal by the 31st minute against Aston Villa in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Aston Villa 4–0 on 23 August 2026. The result was one of the most emphatic performances of the opening round, with Brighton racing into a four-goal lead during the first 31 minutes.
Jack Hinshelwood scored twice within 79 seconds, while Maxim De Cuyper also found the net. Aston Villa’s fourth goal was recorded as an own goal by defender Victor Lindelöf. Villa also played with ten men during the contest, making Brighton’s early dominance even more decisive.
The 4–0 scoreline became the biggest home win of the season at that point. It also placed Brighton among the early leaders, alongside other opening-weekend winners such as Arsenal and Brentford.
