Seven Eagles members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. The honorees were Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner.
The number reflects the principal Eagles members associated with the band’s classic history, not just the four musicians who founded the group in 1971. Walsh and Felder joined later, while Schmit replaced Meisner in 1977. Leadon was an original member who left before the band’s most rock-oriented period.
The induction ceremony was especially notable because all seven performed together. They played “Take It Easy” and “Hotel California,” bringing together members from different Eagles lineups. This is why answers such as five or six are too low: they leave out one or more important former members included in the Hall of Fame recognition.
