Three goals were scored in Manchester City’s 2–1 opening-weekend win over Bournemouth in 2026–27.
The match was played at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 23 August 2026. Bournemouth took the lead and remained ahead for much of the contest, but Manchester City scored twice late to turn the match around.
Marcus Tavernier put Bournemouth in front. Manchester City then equalised through a late goal before Joško Gvardiol scored in the 90th minute plus two minutes to complete the comeback. The final score was therefore 2–1, adding up to three goals in total.
This match is easy to confuse with Brighton’s 4–0 victory over Aston Villa, which was also played on Sunday. Unlike Brighton’s four-goal margin, City’s match was decided by one goal and included a comeback from behind.
