How many goals did Chelsea concede in the 2004-05 Premier League season?

The story behind the answer

Chelsea conceded 15 goals in the 2004–05 Premier League season. Under manager José Mourinho, they produced the best defensive record in Premier League history at the time and won the title with a record 95 points.

Chelsea lost only one league match all season and kept 25 clean sheets. Their defensive strength was built around goalkeeper Petr Čech, captain John Terry, William Gallas and Ricardo Carvalho, with Claude Makélélé shielding the defence in midfield. The team conceded fewer than half a goal per match across its 38 fixtures.

Chelsea finished 12 points clear of runners-up Arsenal and scored 72 goals themselves. Their 15-goal defensive record remained a benchmark for many years, though later Premier League champions have also produced exceptionally low totals. Figures such as 18, 22 and 29 are plausible season totals from other strong defensive campaigns, but they are not Chelsea's total in 2004–05.
