Brighton scored four goals in the first half against Aston Villa in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Brighton raced into a four-goal lead during the opening 31 minutes at the Amex Stadium. The remarkable start helped them defeat Aston Villa 4–0 and produce the biggest home win of the opening round.
The four goals came from Jack Hinshelwood’s double, Maxim De Cuyper’s strike and an own goal by Aston Villa defender Victor Lindelof. Villa were further weakened when João Gomes was sent off five minutes before half-time.
Brighton’s performance also entered Premier League opening-weekend history. They became only the fourth team to score four first-half goals in a Matchweek 1 fixture, after Bolton Wanderers in 2001, Manchester United in 2007 and Liverpool in 2020.
