Seoul’s Lotte World Tower contains 123 floors.
The South Korean skyscraper rises in Seoul’s Songpa District and was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. Construction began in 2011, and the tower was completed in 2016. Its gently tapered profile and pale glass exterior were intended to evoke Korean ceramics and calligraphy while creating a slender landmark on the Seoul skyline.
The tower has 123 above-ground floors and five underground levels. Its mixed-use program includes offices, residences, a luxury hotel, retail space and Seoul Sky, an observation facility near the top. The 123-floor total is sometimes confused with the tower’s height of 555 metres or with the floor occupied by a particular attraction.
Lotte World Tower is South Korea’s tallest building and one of Asia’s most prominent supertall skyscrapers. Its construction required deep foundations and extensive engineering to manage wind and seismic forces in a very tall, narrow structure.
