Brighton scored four first-half goals against Aston Villa on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Brighton raced into a 4–0 lead during the opening 31 minutes at Falmer Stadium. Jack Hinshelwood scored twice in a remarkable 79-second spell, while Maxim De Cuyper also scored and Aston Villa defender Victor Lindelöf contributed an own goal.
Villa’s afternoon became even more difficult when João Gomes was sent off five minutes before half-time. Brighton did not add to their total after the interval, but the first-half burst was enough to produce a 4–0 victory.
The four-goal opening period was historically notable. Brighton became only the fourth team to score four first-half goals in a Premier League Matchweek 1, following Bolton Wanderers, Manchester United and Liverpool.
