How many chambers split up the Time-Twisting Machine in Warped?

The story behind the answer

Five chambers split up the Time-Twisting Machine in Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

The machine serves as Warped’s main hub and divides the game’s time-traveling adventure into five sections. Only the first chamber is available at the beginning. Each chamber contains five buttons that open portals to regular levels, while a sixth button appears for the boss after the five level crystals have been collected.

This arrangement gives Warped a clear progression loop: enter a chamber, complete its five levels, defeat its boss, and unlock the next chamber. Across the five chambers, the game presents 25 regular crystal levels, matching its central objective of collecting 25 crystals.

The number is sometimes confused with the number of portals in a chamber. A chamber eventually has six portals when its boss entrance appears, but the Time-Twisting Machine itself is split into five chambers. The machine was created by Doctor Nefarious Tropy and later collapses as the story reaches its finale.
